Shortbelly RF - anus midway between pelvic-fin base and anal-fin origin; maxilla extends to midorbit; head spine count differs; maximum length 32 cm.
Chilipepper RF - maxilla extends to midorbit, symphyseal knob present; body red w/ whitish belly; head spine count differs.
