Economic Data Reporting

The Economic and Social Science Research (ESSR) program, along with the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC), administers four Economic Data Report (EDR) programs pertaining to the following federal regulatory programs:

  • Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) Crab Rationalization Program
  • Amendment 80 to the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) Fishery Management Plan
  • Amendment 91 Bering Sea Chinook Salmon Bycatch Management
  • Gulf of Alaska (GOA) Trawl Economic Data Report Program

The purpose of the EDRs is to aid the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC) and NOAA Fisheries in assessing the success of these programs and in developing program changes as needed. EDRs collect data annually on costs, revenues, ownership, and employment from participants in harvesting and processing sectors. Participation in the data collection is mandatory for all participants in these fisheries.

Additional information on these programs is available from the websites linked below, or contact Brian Garber-Yonts, EDR Program Manager.
