Current Activities

Katie Sweeney is a Research Biologist with MML's Alaska Ecosystem Program, where she works primarily on Steller sea lion population abundance and monitoring. She is also involved in life history and demographic studies of Alaskan pinniped species. Katie is one of the program's FAA-certified unoccupied aircraft system (UAS, or drone) pilots.


Katie received her B.S. in Aquatic and Fisheries Sciences from the University of Washington and earned her Masterís Degree from Duke University. She began working for the Marine Mammal Laboratory after attending the University of Washington, in 2007.
