Current Activities
Mandy is part of Auke Bay Labís Recruitment Energetics and Coastal Assessment program. Currently she is involved with several major ecosystem level programs. She is a component lead and collaborating researcher for the Gulf Watch Alaska long term monitoring program funded by the Exxon Valdez oil spill Trustee Council. She is also providing leadership and biological expertise to the Alaska ShoreZone program which is imaging and habitat mapping Alaskaís entire coastline.

Background
Mandy has been conducting research along Alaskaís coastline for over 20 years. Her expertise is in coastal ecology and she specializes in the taxonomy and ecology of seaweeds. Her research includes oil spill injury assessment and monitoring studies, essential fish habitat, and coastal habitat mapping throughout southeastern Alaska, Gulf of Alaska, Aleutian Islands, and the Arctic. All of these studies have enabled her to develop a unique knowledge of Alaskan coastal habitats and publish a book on seaweeds of Alaska.
