Current Activities
Emily is part of the Recruitment Energetics and Coastal Assessment program. She manages the diet and zooplankton laboratory and oversees the biological processing laboratories. She is also a co-principal investigator for the Southeast Coastal Monitoring (SECM) project. This 17-yr research project examines relationships among marine coastal conditions and salmon production using data collected monthly from May to August at Icy Strait in northern Southeast Alaska. Emily helps develop the annual SECM adult pink salmon harvest forecast using data from the SECM project. Emily is also the Auke Bay Labís metadata coordinator.

Background
Emily has been working at ABL since 2001 after completing her degree in Marine Biology at the University of Alaska Southeast. She specializes in zooplankton taxonomy and diet analysis. Her research has been focused on juvenile salmon ecology including feeding habits, bioenergetics, migration, and hatchery and wild salmon interactions. Emily has helped organize meetings and workshops on salmon ocean ecology in collaboration with researchers both nationally and internationally.
