Current Activities
Marcia Muto is a wildlife biologist for NMML's Cetacean Assessment and Ecology Program. Current responsibilities include reviewing and updating NMML’s stock assessment reports for the U.S. Pacific Marine Mammal Stock Assessment Reports and coordinating, producing, and editing other CAEP and NMML reports and publications. Marcia is also a member of the Northwest Regional Education and Outreach Group and co-develops, coordinates, and conducts NMML’s activities for the annual NOAA Science Camps at the NOAA Western Regional Center.
Background
Marcia received a B.S. in psychology and an M.S. in wildlife biology from Washington State University. She also has an A.A. in scientific photography from Bellevue Community College. Prior to joining NMML in 1984, Marcia was a biologist on several projects for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Previous research at NMML has included studies of Dall’s porpoise and eastern North Pacific gray whales and work on the NMFS journal Fishery Bulletin.
