Current Activities

Eric Boerner serves as NMML's IT manager, chairs NMML's Computer Advisory Council, and is the lab's webmaster. He oversees the lab's IT assets and interests, as well as shapes the lab's IT infrastructure for the future. He is particularly interested in automated data processing and large-scale database interactions, especially in support of data analysis tools such as ArcGIS. He has more than a decade of experience managing IT projects and is an accomplished software programmer. Eric's primary focus is to help NMML staff do their work more efficiently overall.

Background

Prior to joining NMML, Eric worked in the Mojave Desert, conducting radio telemetry research on desert tortoises. He designed, programmed, and implemented a system that alerted researchers when desert tortoises were active during the day. He also served as technical advisor and webmaster for the Desert Managers Group, a multi-agency organization consisting of Department of Defense and Department of Interior offices. Eric has an extensive background in database management, programming, and spatial data modeling. He holds a degree in Mass Communications with minors in Advertising and Marketing. He also served as an operational manager in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years.
