Pinnipeds - Spotted seals (Phoca largha)
Adult spotted seals are silvery-gray with dark grey on the back and covered with brown to black irregular spots. Pups are born with a white coat but molt to the adult colors after 3 or 4 months. Adult males grow to 1.7 m and females to 1.6 m; they weigh 80 to 123 kg.
NMML researchers track Spotted seals with satellite-linked transmitters to understand their habitat ranges throughout the year.
