Activities
How many fish are there?
The Fish Fetch activity helps students understand how scientists answer this question. This activity uses methods
based on the surveys that Alaska Fisheries Science Center biologists use to estimate the size
of fish populations in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. The participants take samples of
fish and learn how to estimate population size from samples.
This activity was developed for grade levels PreK-8.
