Where do Pacific cod live?

Pacific cod are a transoceanic species occurring at depths from shoreline to 500 m. Their range is from southern California north to the Bering Strait, and they like to stay near the ocean bottom where the sediment is soft and made up of mud, clay, or sand.


What do Pacific cod eat?

Pacific cod eat whatever comes near them, such as fish, invertebrates, or a tasty dead animal they come across.


How do Pacific cod reproduce?

Pacific cod begin spawning each year during the month of March. Females spawn millions of eggs which sink to the bottom after fertilization. Larvae begin to hatch within a month.
